Building on the proven success of the completed Cleveleys and Rossall Coast Defence Schemes, this critical project will help significantly lessen the threat of coastal erosion and flooding endangering over 11,000 homes and key infrastructure. Stable protection will be established by installing rock armour groynes to nurture a sturdy beach. This will in turn decrease wave height and power and the probability of damage from waves crashing over and compromising the existing seawalls. The rock armour toe shielding will also shelter the current structures from potential undermining if and when beach levels dip. Failing to reinforce this strategic coastline could lead to demolished dunes and the frightening scenario of waves crashing directly into the streets beyond. This project is essential for public safety.
