In this annual event, the seaside road between Starrgate (A) and Redbank Road (B) is closed in both directions to all traffic except bicycles from 7pm until 10pm. The distance is just over 5 miles.
The road closure allows riders to see the annual Blackpool Illuminations in relative safety. Riders quite often dress up their bikes, or add flashy lights to them. And some wear fancy dress.
In 2023 the event took place on 23 August and the 2nd recommended video below from Stephen Cheatley (Channel: Walk on the Wildside) shows the full ride from north to south. Along the way, he points out a number of notable landmarks and passes on some local history comments. Luckily the rain held off until the very last stretch of his journey.
