Blackpool: Fylde Memorial Arboretum & Community Woodland

A respectful remembrance area at the northern edge of the nearby linear walk*.



This is a symbolic representation of the
Burma Railway, which was built in Thailand by
Allied prisoners of war of the Japanese.
This memorial is a tribute to those who were forced
to construct the infamous "Railway of Death",
many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Thos prisoners of war who survived became
holders of the Burma Star.

This Millenium Grove is dedicated to the memory of service personnel previously resident in The Blackpool, Flyde, and Wyre Boroughs, who have died while on active service during this millenium.

This monument was erected in this community woodland, The Flyde Memorial Arboretum, for the Flyde ex-service liaison committee in June 2009.
The trees will provide a have of peace and beauty for all who visit, and serve as a living and lasting memorial to commemorate our fallen comrades and loved ones.
