Bispham to Cleveleys Promenade Walk 2019-2022

Norbreck Castle is actually a hotel with mock turrets and mock battlements on top of the walls. The lower promenade in this area was constructed in the 1970s to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. Many local schoolchildren had an involvement.

Children have fun climbing on to the different castles and on the boat and Hugo, the whale.

Abana

This Canadian built ship flying the Norwegian flag, and three weeks out of Liverpool, floundered off the coast during 100-130mph winds (newspaper report) at Blackpool and drifted unmanageably towards Norbreck where it came aground on sandbanks at Little Bispham on 22 December 1894. At low tide, the remains of the wreck of the Abana can be seen. My photographs June 2021.Wikipedia entry.
